Design and Build Robots with EHS/CTE Teachers and Student Varsity Engineers

Robotics Camp Schedule

  • Tuesday, June 27th – Friday, June 30th
  • 9:00am-3:00pm (drop offs as early as 8:30am)
  • Essex High School Room C211
  • Demonstration for friends and family on Friday, June 30th @ 2:00pm
  • Please bring 2 healthy snacks, lunch, and a beverage each day.
  • Extended Care is available until 4:00pm for additional fee.

Skills and Activities (designed for students entering grades 7-9)

  • Building Personal Robots that demonstrate basic principles of sensors and locomotion
  • Using Lego EV3 Microcontrollers to write programs with Lego Mindstorms (while, if/else, subroutine, and
    input/output structures)
  • Developing algorithms for Robotic behaviors like Line Following, Obstacle Avoidance, and IR Seeking
  • Work on a Team to Design, Build, and Compete with an Entry in a Robotics Competition based on US FIRST
    Robotics

Essex Youth Robotics is sponsored by Essex High School and the Center Technology, Essex. Programs and
activities are designed and supervised by EHS Physics & Robotics Teacher Joe Chase and CTE Engineering and
Architectural Design Program Director Jim Dirmaier.
